Hi quizzy, I don't think we are talking about the same Argyle here. The one that billy was on about was just a youth club, down School street flats, But I have heard someone mention The Argyle pub, I will have to do some research on that one.....

Now, exactly how big this room was may just be down to my imagination, as I was around 4 at the time. However, I have some very vivid memories of being in the bar, with a bottle of Pepsi & a paper straw, entertaining many of the regulars, by being able to recite all of the different beer bottle labels.

I had heard that further down the track, it changed it's name to The Ship & had it's roof blown off at some stage. Not too sure if that's completely true or not.
Welcome to the Hebburn site ...and what a smashing post...omg I remember paper straws...lol...9 times out of ten mine ended up all yuky in bottom of bottle..lol..memories magic

I've heard 'the claps' used many times in my family and never had any idea where it was.
